Check Out This Sweet Sandalwood Whipped Body Butter

There are many things to like about winter. Freshly fallen snow, warm cups of cocoa and winter holidays are just some of the things that make this Season special. As for me, I get excited when the temperature starts to drop, because it means that the Season of beaten body butter is coming.

Tender whipped cream butter tend to melt or deflate in hot weather, so many formulators store this particular skin care treatment for the winter period. At this time of year, temperatures are cool enough to ensure successful batches, easy shipping, and plenty of dry skin requiring high-performance moisturizers.

You can make a whipped body butter with just about any natural vegetable butter. (Really, and here’s a Video that shows you how!) Shea butter is of course the classic main ingredient of this type of recipe, but we have made countless batches of mango butter, Murumuru and many others.

Our sweet sandalwood body butter starts with a blend of Aloe Vera butter and deodorized cocoa butter. This combination of light aloe butter made from coconut and rich, moisturizing cocoa butter gives the formula a beautiful, fluffy texture without being too heavy or greasy.

We chose Calendula, Abysisinian, carrot seed oil and vitamin E oil to take advantage of their soothing benefits and soften the texture of whipped body butter a little. For the fragrance, we blended our Royal Hawaiian sandalwood heavenly essential oil with the juicy sweet orange and musky aroma of Jasmine and Ylang Ylang. You can easily customize this recipe by swapping the aromatics for any essential oil or scented oil blend you prefer.


About 24 Ounces (by Volume)


4 ounces aloe vera butter, room temperature
2 ounces deodorized cocoa butter
1.25 ounces calendula oil
0.75 oz Abyssinian Oil
0.5 oz carrot seed oil
0.5 ounces vitamin E 400 / IU Oil
1/4-1/2 teaspoon teaspoon Royal Hawaiian sandalwood essential oil
1/4 teaspoon sweet orange essential oil
1/8 teaspoon Jasmine extract sambac CO2
1/8 teaspoon ylang ylang essential oil


Place the Aloe Vera butter in a bowl with a stand mixer with a paddle attachment. Cream butter at low speed until soft and fluffy. It may take a few minutes if the butter is cold.
Melt the cocoa butter in a cauldron over medium heat. Once melted, remove from heat and let stand for five minutes.
Add the remaining oils and aromatic ingredients to the cocoa butter and mix well.
Increase the speed of the mixer to medium and slowly water in the oil mixture. When the oils are incorporated, increase the speed to high and beat until the mixture becomes bright white and fluffy. (At least five Minutes.)

Usage And Packaging

Whipped body butters look beautiful in our 8-ounce flat PET jars.
To use, slather generously on dry skin and massage until absorbed.
